The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is low-cost, often leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.

But this year, as demonstrations across the Middle East have actually pushed up the cost of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has come into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one business is from the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving profitable too, already their client-list consists of McDonald's.
